The name for this station on the Sangudo subdivision of Canadian National Railways was officially approved 18 January 1974. Canadian Northern Railway built the first part of this line, eventually to Whitecourt. The portion past there, to Kaybob and Grizzly was likely added by C.N.R. Its precise origin is unknown.

Approximately 58 km west of Whitecourt.
