Ashton Lake

The name appears on federal government maps as early as 1930. It was named after J. Ashton Jaffary, Provincial Librarian, who was at that time the Alberta advisor to the Geographic Board of Canada. Ashton is a common word from the old English meaning "where ash [trees] grew." |
