Organization Name: Alberta Cancer Foundation

Organization Mission Statement: To ensure a cancer free future for all Albertans the Alberta Cancer Foundation raises funds for leading-edge research, prevention and patient care programs of the Alberta Cancer Board.

Organization Focus: Established in 1984 under the Cancer Programs Act, the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF) accepts and raises funds on behalf of the Alberta Cancer Board (ACB). ACF funding supports cancer research, patient education and support programs, equipment and technology acquisition, and cancer treatment programs at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and 15 other cancer treatment facilities across Alberta. The challenge of conquering cancer has never been greater as the number of cases increases each year in Alberta due to an aging and growing population. The best cancer care calls for teamwork: physicians, nurses, researchers, therapists, pharmacists and technicians, all working together to unravel the mystery of cancer and deliver the highest standards in cancer care. To complete the team it takes members of the community - donors and volunteers - who share our vision of conquering cancer through their generous support. All gifts stay in Alberta and work to fund new equipment, special programs and world-class cancer research to help advance the fight against cancer. For more information about the Alberta Cancer Foundation, please visit www.cancerboard.ab.ca./foundation or call 780-409-5700.
