Junkins

Junkins was the name given to the area (now called wildwood) that the first black settlers chose to build homes in. It is west of Edmonton, Alberta. If the people living there needed supplies from Edmonton it would take a day to get there by horse and wagon, and a day to get back. Because Junkins was so far from everything else, lots of people ended up moving. There are now only a few black families still farming the area, which is now called Wildwood.
