British Settlement

Hopefully most of you know that people from France and Britain discovered the Country of Canada. Even though the Natives lived here first, it was the French and British that set up the government and helped to populate the country. Many people from Britain started to arrive in Alberta in the early 1900s. They decided to build homes and farm, or work in the coalmines. During the period of 1901 - 1905 the number of British people living in Alberta was over 11,000 and continued to grow.
