Coal is a natural resource that is non-renewable. This means that coal is made by nature, not man, and it cannot be grown or replaced. Once a lump of coal is burned, it is gone forever. Have you ever wondered when you turn on a light how people make electricity? In Alberta, most of our electricity is made from burning coal. Coal can be used for many other things as well. Thousands of people in Alberta mine coal for a living.
