Leduc

The town of Leduc is located sixteen kilometres south of the City of Edmonton. The town is near the Edmonton International airport and the Leduc-Nisku Industrial area - one of the largest business and industrial parks in Canada. It also straddles Highway 2 - the highway which connects Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary.

The continuing economic growth of Alberta and the Edmonton city area provides an attractive climate for Leduc's population growth and economic development. The town enjoys exceptionally good locational attributes including being close to road, rail and air transportation modes.

Long before the discovery of oil brought Leduc into the global focus, settlers were steadily moving to the frontier westward. Hundreds came in the early part of the last century from overseas and many parts of the continent. Thriving centres were built by the homesteaders and venturesome businessmen.

Leduc was incorporated in 1899 and was known as a good business town. The town originally functioned as a service centre for the surrounding agricultural area. It was considered one of the best diversified farming districts of Alberta.
