Shimbashi, Edward (sh + im + bashi)

Edward Shimbashi was a hero for potato farmers. He helped mechanize the potato industry in Alberta. That means machines did the work. Mr. Shimbashi introduced the first potato harvester and piler, mechanical beet harvester and large scale transportation, totally changing the vegetable and potato industry in southern Alberta. He also bought one of the first sprinkler irrigation systems in the area in the early 1950s. Edward Shimbashi died in 1976.
