HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE FUTURE
3. Native / Non-Native Collaboration
Models of mutual conversion are required to understand the integration of spiritualities as well. Bishop Remi de Roo suggests a paradigm from aboriginal culture when he says,
Canadian Natives will often end a public statement with the words'All my relations' [...) They say it out of respect for all the other creatures of which they are a part [...] we are all creatures among creatures and we are all in relation with one another (Daly et al., 1999, p.57-58).
The model of mutual respect, of right relationships, of the interrelationship of all living things, is quite possibly the most significant philosophical concept that the First Nations can bring to an understanding of spirituality and engaging in interfaith dialogue for our time (Tinker, 1996). Models of mutual conversion will have a significant impact on future historiography.
