Quatre Fourches, Chenal des

It is an old name, dating back to the time of the French fur traders. It is referred to in the 1822 Hudson's Bay Company post journal from Fort Chipewyan. The "channel of the four forks" links the Peace River, Mamawi Lake and Lake Athabasca. The four forks are at the southern end of the channel in the narrow strip of land separating these two lakes.

Flows north into Peace River approximately 232 km north of Fort McMurray.
