Asphalt Creek

Showing on a federal government map of 1916, the name is probably descriptive, indicating the presence of bitumen impregnated sands exposed along many river banks in the area. The tar sands along the Athabasca and its tributaries are the largest of the four deposits found in north-central Alberta.

Flows south-east into Eymundson Creek approximately 92 km north north-west of Fort McMurray.
