Akuinu River

Category : River

In 1920, the Dominion Land Surveyor J.N. Wallace wrote: "Akuinu River, name of Indian tribes south of Chipewyans are called Ethinyew or Inenyew." The Cree name for Saulteaux is Nak-aw-ew-iy-i-new, which is likely a corruption of this name. The name was recorded by the Geological Survey of Canada in 1892 as the A-kew-i-new-si-pi.

Flows north into Saulteaux River approximately 41 km south-east of Slave Lake.
