Baril Lake

The lake was named in 1916 by J.A. Fletcher, DLS, after M.C.L. Baril of the Surveyor General's staff who was killed in action on November 9, 1915. There is also a mountain peak south-west of Turner Valley named after him. (see also Place Names of Alberta, Volume I; Mountains, Mountain Parks and Foothills)

Approximately 219 km north of Fort McMurray.
