Bowhay Lake

The lake was named in 1949 after Flight Lieutenant Sam L. Bowhay, born in Three Hills, Alberta, in 1915. He enlisted in the RCAF in 1940, served as flying instructor in Canada and was killed in a flying accident while stationed at No. 5 Operational Training Unit at Boundary Bay, British Columbia, in January 1945. In 1944 he was awarded a Commendation for valuable services in the air.

Approximately 220 km east north-east of High Level.
