These rapids have been known by this name since at least 1888 in which year they appeared in a survey report. Traveller Eden McAdams noted in his diary for May 12, 1889: "Left other side of portage at 12 am and ran down to the head of Cascade Rapids. The portage for these rapids is 1 1/2 miles long and the longest on the Clearwater. |
