In this excerpt from filmmaker Tom Radford's New Norway: The
Immigrant Trail, the legacy of the Westvick family is traced
through three generations. Emigrating from Norway to Alberta in
1912, Sivert Westvick worked as a butcher, an importer of hats and
was the town's mortician, as well as mayor.
This film is one of the Scattering of Seeds series from White
Pine Pictures. The series celebrates the character of
immigrants who staked their futures and those of their families on
a second chance in Canada.
