Who Are They ?

In Canada, a sense of identity is not easy to define. From region to region and town to town there are acute and subtle differences in the perspectives of the inhabitants. Remember, even within an individual family, different members take on strikingly different world views.

Our section on Layers of Identity explores the process of how individuals and cultures develop and maintain their identities. We discuss how regional differences in a country as geographically vast as Canada affect both how Albertans are viewed by others as well as how Albertans view themselves.
