George Rogers

Geroge Rogers
George Rogers was born in Jamaica and immigrated to Canada in 1975.

After graduation from Leduc Senior High School in 1977, George went on to N.A.I.T., and obtained a diploma in Business Administration with an accounting major in 1980.

Following graduating from N.A.I.T, George Rogers worked in the oil industry in various accounting positions up to the rank of "Assistant Controller".

In 1986, Rogers joined the City of Leduc as Assistant Treasurer, and after three years moved to Redcliff, Alberta, where as Municipal Administrator he handled the roles of Secretary-Treasurer and Assistant Town Manager.

In 1992, George returned home to Leduc to start a real estate sales career with Royal LePage, and subsequently ran for City Council in the fall of that year. He topped the polls with a record number of votes, and repeated that accomplishment again in 1995.

In October of 1998, George Rogers ran for Mayor, and was elected with a 3 to 1 margin over his opponent. George was re-elected in October of 2001, in a resounding victory over his opponent, a former Leduc Mayor.

George has represented Leduc in a number of capacities, and is currently serving as President of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association after four years as Vice-President for Cities. George also sits as a Board Member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

George has represented the AUMA on a variety of committees and boards; one of the most notable being co-chair of a task force with the Urban Development Institute, and the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties reviewing development levies in Alberta in conjunction with Alberta Municipal Affairs.

Mr. Rogers is married, a proud father of three children, and a very active community volunteer.
