Screw Cover Remover and Tightener (Patent No: 566896)

4 Claims.

1. A removing and tightening device for screw type covers and the like, comprising in combination an elongated hand gripping lever, a sheave lever pivoted by one end thereof to adjacent one end of said band gripping lever, a flexible, adjustable, cover embracing band secured adjacent one end thereof to said sheave lever and adapted to extend around and encircle the associated cover, the other end of said band extending freely between the said end of said hand gripping lever and said sheave lever and adapted to be selectively clamped therebetween, said sheave lever including a curved cover contacting surface and a lever pivoting lug extending substantially at right angles from adjacent one end of said side, said sheave lever being pivotally connected to said hand lever by said lug, the said end of said hand gripping lever co-operating with the underside of said surface to effect said clamping action.

2. The device according to claim 1 in which said sheave lever is slotted adjacent said point of connection, said band adapted to pass through said slot, and stop means on said first mentioned end of said band to retain said end through said slot.

3. The device according to claim 1 in which said sheave lever includes a pair of lever pivoting lugs extending substantially at right angles from adjacent one end of said surface, said hand gripping lever when viewed in cross section at said end, being substantially U-shaped thereby forming pivot lugs for the attachment thereto of said sheave lever by said sheave lever lugs.

4. The device according to claims 1, 2 or 3 which includes an anvil plate formed on the said end of said hand gripping lever.
