Flax Threshing Machine (Patent No: 205205)

Description: David. W. Bohannon and, Charles E. Bohannon, co-inventors, both of Sibbald, Alberta, Canada, 2nd November, 1920; 6 years. Filed 24th April, 1919. Receipt No. 308,764.

Claim.—1. The combination of a harvesting machine, elevated supporting means, a flax threshing mechanism mounted on said elevated supporting means and made up of a group of crushing rollers, a cylinder and complementary concave for shaking the seed out of the bolls subsequent to the crushing operation, and means for cleaning the seed, and means for transferring the flax from the harvesting machine to the crushing rollers of the threshing mechanism.

2. A traveling machine for harvesting, threshing and cleaning flax. comprising a wheel supported frame, a cutting apparatus thereon, a conveyer in rear of said apparatus elevating means arranged to receive flax from said conveyer, a casing supported on the frame and open at its outer end for the discharge of straw, threshing means in said casing and arranged to receive flax from the elevating means, a screen in the casing below said threshing means, means in the casing below the screen to receive flax seed, a fan casing positioned to discharge between the screen and said receiving means, a fan in the said casing, the said threshing means including lower rollers, an upper roller, and means to yieldingly press the upper roller toward the lower rollers.

3. Flax threshing means comprising a casing, lower rollers therein, an upper vertically movable roller disposed above the lower roller for co-operation therewith, pendant rods connected to the ends of the upper roller and carrying abutments, a rock shaft journalled in the casing and having at its ends an arm and a lever, said arm and lever apertured and loosely receiving said rods, spring means mounted on the rods and enclosed between an abutment and the hand lever and arm, respectively, and means to adjustably fix the hand lever.
