Jacob Bell Barron, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 13th November, 1934. Filed 5th February, 1934. Serial No. 408,062.

Claim.—1. As a new article of manufacture a perforated disc adapted to be inserted in a tobacco pipe bowl having a solid pin on one side adapted to engage the inside of the bottom of the bowl.

2. As a new article of manufacture a disc divided by radial cuts into a plurality of petal-shaped resilient fingers, said disc being adapted to be inserted into a tobacco pipe bowl and to support the tobacco therein a distance from the bottom of the bowl.

3. Independent and removable means, for use in a tobacco pipe bowl, consisting of a peg, one end of which is intended to rest at the bottom of the bowl and to the other end of which is attached a plurality of curved petals of thin flexible resilient metal, the petals being curved, and separated from each other by narrow slits so as to take the form, if all the petals were joined, of a shallow tea cup or deep saucer, and the flexible resilient metal closest to the peg joining each of the petals to the peg acting as a hinge so as to permit the petal to yield inwardly or expand outwardly according to the size and shape of the bowl, all of said means being designed to and having the effect of permitting same to be readily inserted, into and snugly positioned and held in tobacco pipe bowls of varying shapes and sizes so as to maintain tobacco above and clear of the opening to the passage from the bowl to the mouthpiece and at tlie same time permitting smoke to be drawn through the slits between the petals.
