-CLAIMS-

Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:-

1. A pump of the type described comprising in combination; a pump cylinder and its piston; a piston rod having an exteriorily extended portion of said piston rod projecting from the said cylinder; an additional cylinder mounted on said pump cylinder and enclosing said extended portion of said piston rod; a hydraulically operated piston on the end of said extended piston rod; a spring enclosing said extended portion of said piston rod; valve means for suction and discharge operated by said pump piston; and hydraulic means to operate said pump hydraulically operated piston during the pump discharge stroke only and to compress said spring~

2. A hydraulically operated pump comprising a pump cylinder, piston and piston rod; an extended portion of this piston rod having a piston and reciprocally operating in a hydraulic cylinder mounted on said pump cylinder; a piston raising spring spirally enclosing said extended portion of said piston rod; suction valves in the bottom of said pump cylinder; a suction valve chamber connecting with a suction pipe; a discharge valve chamber. at the bottom of said pump cylinder; a discharge pipe connected with said discharge valve chamber; spring discharge valves in said discharge valve chamber; and a hydraulic pressure pipe leading from a pressure producing unit to the said hydraulic cylinder for the transmission of pressure thereto to provide power through a fluid column to operate said pump.
