Description:
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege 1s claimed are defined as follows:


(1) A humidifier for hot air furnaces comprising in combination a plate covering an opening in the casing of said furnace, a pair of support arms extending inwardly of the casing and secured to said plate, a water pan pivotted off center between said arm for tipping action, said point of pivot being towards the inner end of said pan, counterweight means on the said inner end adapted to tip said inner end downwardly when said pan is empty but permitting said end to rise when water is in said pan, a control valve unit on the outer side of said plate, a valve in said unit, a source of water pressure connected to said valve, a feed pipe extending from said unit and overlying said pan, and means operatively connected between said pan and said valve to open said valve when said inner end of said pan is tipped downwardly and vice versa.

(2) The device according to Claim 1 in which said control valve unit comprises a block secured to said plate, said block being apertured to receive said source of water pressure, a valve aperture between said first mentioned aperture and the inner surface of said plate, a reservoir recess formed on the inner surface of said plate, part of said reservoir recess surrounding but being spaced from said valve aperture, a flexible gasket spanning said reservoir recess and said valve aperture, said means adapted to engage and disengage said gasket over said valve aperture, said feed pipe communicated with said reservoir.

(3) The device according to Claim 2 in which said means includes a valve control plate pivotted by the lower end thereof adjacent the lower side the outer ends of said support arm, a control rod passing through the upper end of said valve control plate, stop means on said rod engage able with said plate, a tipping sill spanning said pan above said pivotal connection, the other end of said valve control rod being engageable with said sill, and a valve push rod journal led for endwise movement in said first mentioned plate, said rod extending between said valve control plate and the portion of said gasket covering said inlet.


(4) The device according to Claim 3 which includes a multi-apertured portion on said sill, said rod end engaging in anyone of said apertures thereby adjusting the actuating of said valve.
