Spark Plug (Patent No: 327069)
Inventor: Willford, Walter Leonard Location: Black Diamond Comments: N/A Description: CLAIM IS
1. - In a spark plug, a main body adapted for threading to the cylinder, a fixed electrode mounted adjacent the bottom end of said body, an insulating sheath supported within said main body, said sheath having a shoulder adjacent the top of said main body, a gasket engaging the shoulder of said sheath, a nut threaded within said, main body and engaging said gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said main body and sheath, a metal sleeve rigidly secured in said sheath, a second electrode threaded within said sleeve, the lower end of which co-operates with said fixed electrode to provide the firing gap, a second gasket within said sleeve, and a gland nut turning in said sleeve and engaging said second gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said second electrode and sleeve.
2. - In a spark plug, a hollow main body adapted for threading to the cylinder. a fixed electrode mounted adjacent the lower end of said body, said body having the upper portion of its inner bore enlarged to ,form a shoulder, an insulating sheath within said body having an enlarged portion forming a shoulder adapted to bear upon the shoulder in said body, a gasket engaging the upper face of the enlarged portion of said Sheath, a nut threaded in said body and engaging said gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said body and sheath, a metal sleeve rigidly Secured within said sheath and formed at the top with an enlarged portion bearing upon the upper face of said sheath, a second electrode threaded within said sleeve the lower end of which co-operates with said fixed electrode to provide the firing gap, a second gasket within the enlarged portion of said sleeve, and a gland nut threaded within the enlarged portion of said sleeve and engaging said second gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said sleeve and second electrode.
3. - In a spark plug, a main body adapted for threading to the cylinder, a fixed electrode adjacent the bottom end of said body, an insulating sheath supported within said main body. a gasket engaging said sheath, a nut threaded on said main body and engaging said gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said main body and sheath, a metal sleeve rigidly secured to said sheath, a second electrode threaded within said sheath the lower end of which co-operates with said electrode to provide the firing gap, a second gasket in said sleeve, and a nut threaded on said sleeve and engaging said second gasket whereby a gas-tight joint is effected between said second electrode and sleeve.
