Acetylene Gas Generator (Patent No: 372885)

Inventor: Bayamo Company Ltd. (assignee)

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description:
Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in The Patent Act 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:

1. An acetylene generator comprising a water chamber, a carbide chamber having a restricted opening into the water chamber, an annular valve sent fixed in the opening and having a sharp inner lower edge, a gas pressure responsive diaphragm, a shaft connected to the diaphragm, a conical valve adjustably fixed on the shaft, wide and downward, below the opening, the diameter of said valve at its widest part being less than the exterior diameter of the carbide chamber at the opening, but greater than the interior diameter of the valve seat, and a valve on the shaft above the opening, the first mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever the gas pressure in the water chamber exceeds a predetermined figure and the second mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever said gas pressure is below another predetermined figure.

2. An acetylene generator comprising a water chamber, a carbide chamber having a restricted opening into the water chamber, a gas pressure responsive diaphragm, a shaft connected to the diaphragm, a conical valve having a taper of between about 35° and less than 40° adjustably fixed on the shaft, wide end downwards, below the opening, a valve on the shaft above the
opening, the first mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening, the first mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever the gas pressure in the water chamber exceeds a predetermined figure and the second mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever said gas pressure is below another predetermined figure.

3. An acetylene generator comprising a water chamber, a carbide chamber having a restricted opening into the water chamber, a gas pressure responsive diaphragm, a shaft connected to the diaphragm, a conical valve having a taper of about 35° adjustably fixed on the shaft, wide end downwards, below the opening, a valve on the shaft above the opening, the first mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening, whenever the gas pressure in the water chamber exceeds a predetermined figure and the second mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever said gas pressure is below another predetermined figure.

4. An acetylene generator as defined in Claim 2, in which the taper of the second mentioned valve is between about 70° and 75°.

5. An acetylene generator as defined in Claim 3, in which the taper of the second mentioned valve is between 70° and 75°.

6. An acetylene generator comprising a water chamber, a carbide chamber having a restricted opening into the water chamber, an annular valve seat fixed in the opening and having a sharp inner lower edge, a gas pressure responsive diaphragm, a shaft connected to the diaphragm, a conical valve having a taper of between about 35° and less than 40° adjustably fixed to the shaft, wide end downward, below the opening, the diameter of said valve at its widest part being less than the exterior diameter of the carbide chamber at the opening but less than the interior diameter of the valve seat, and a hollow conical valve having a taper of between about 70° and 75° adjustably fixed to the shaft, wide end downward, above the opening, the first mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever the gas pressure in the water chamber exceeds a predetermined figure and the second mentioned valve being adapted to close the opening whenever said gas pressure is below another predetermined figure.
