Inventor: Bliss, Louis Vencil

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description:
WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION IS:-

1. A device for removing annuli seated in members having cylindrical interiors, comprising a central screw threaded shaft, jaws having inturned lugs with openings therein of a diameter slightly larger than that of said shaft, said jaws being thus slideable on said shaft and their extremities being movable toward and away from it, means on one end of the shaft for moving the extremities of the jaws away from the shaft to grip the annulus, means on the shaft for holding the jaws in expanded position and against longitudinal movement on the shaft, a unitary domed sleeve slidable on said shaft and adapted to rest on the member from which the annulus is to be removed, and means for drawing said shaft and thus the annulus outwardly through said sleeve.

2. A device according to claim 1 in which the means for holding the jaws in expanded position and against longitudinal movement on the shaft consist of a nut threaded on the shaft on the side of the lugs removed from the extremities of the jaws and a stress-taking block threaded on the shaft on the other side of the lugs, the latter being adapted to be clamped between the nut and block.

3. A device according to either of claims 1 or 2 in which the means for moving the extremities of the jaws away from the shaft to grip the annulus consists of a member having in front elevation the shape of a rectangle and in side elevation the shape of a trucated triangle.
