Inventor: Dixon, Archie Orman

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description: WHAT WE CLAIM IS:-

1. In an electric oil heater for a sump pan, an electric device comprising a heating coil, a bushing supporting said coil, a bolt extending through said bushing, a nut screwed on to said bushing against the engine wall, insulating washers recessed in said bushing at the upper end under said bolt head and spacing it from said bushing, insulating washers mounted towards the lower end of said bolt and forming closures for the bore of said bushing, locking nuts screwed on to said bolt and holding said lower washers, said bolt forming a binding post for said heating coil, the heating coil being in helical form having the lower end attached under the head of said bolt and
having the upper end extended and brought down and secured in contact with said bushing at the upper end under said insulating· washers, and an electrical connection in the form of an armored wire extending from said bolt at the lower end through an electric switch to an electric battery having one grounded connection.

2. In an electric oil heater for a sump pan, a. nut, a bushing screwed into said nut and recessed at the upper end fiber and mica washers introduced into said recess, conductor screw forming a binding post and centralized in the
bore of said bushing by said washers, fiber and mica washers mounted on the lower threaded end of said screw and forming closures for said bushing, binding .nuts retaining said lower washers in place, a heating coil secured at one end under the head of said screw and projecting above said bushing into the oil and having its other end brought down and secured to said bushing, an armored wire secured between said binding nuts and extending through the wall of the first named nut, an electric switch suitably mounted and connected with said armored wire and a grounded electric battery, said bushing and encircling nut with the aforesaid closure forming a closure for a threaded hole in the sump pan.

3. In an electric oil heater for a sump pan, a closure for the drain opening of the sump pan comprising a threaded bushing and encircling lock nut, a stopper in bolt form introduced in said bushing and insulated therefrom at the inner end, washers insulating said bolt from said bushing at the outer end, binding nuts forming a live electrical connection to said bolt at the outer end and an exposed electrical heating coil mounted at the extreme inner end of said bushing and forming at its extended end a ground connection therewith and at its other end a live connection with the bolt.
