Claim.—1. The combination with a tractor-mounted stacker for loading hay and the like, and having an overhead swingable frame with boom members spaced extend-ably relative to tlie tractor, of a friction-controlled cable hoisting device, comprising a. friction drive pulley rotated by the tractor engine, a stationary chassis-mounted brake block, a cable winding drum. a friction drum pivotally mounted intermediately between said drive pulley and said brake block to rotate the chain-connected cable winding drum, manual means to engage the said pivotally mounted drum with the said friction drive pulley, and spring means for disengagement therefrom as the manual control is released.

2. In combination with an overthrow hay loader mounted pivotally on the rear of a tractor frame and having upright legs braced to the tractor chassis, and boom arms carrying a sweep rake. a friction operated hoist with A cable winding drum. a spindle-mounted drum frictionally driven by a tractor take-off driven pulley, a swingable frame mounting said spindle-mounted drum and pivotally attached to the tractor chassis, a gear and chain drive between said spindle-mounted drum and said hoist drum. A spring braced between said frame and the tractor chassis for disengagement between the take-off driven pulley and the spindle-mounted drum. and a brake block rigidly fitted to the tractor chassis for contact by said spindle-mounted friction drum when pivotally manipulated by the operator of the tractor as well as for braking the said drum against the said brake block.
