Claim.—1. In a windmill construction, a drive shaft, carried in bearings on a frame, a plurality of wind cups, carried in spaced relation alone said shaft. spirally positioned therearound and tangentially located from the centre line thereof, and means for varying the position of said cups on said shaft to change the spiral pitch.

2. In a windmill construction, a drive shaft, carried in bearings on a framework, a series of cup units, mounted in spaced relation along said shaft, each unit comprising a series of wind cups. supported on the legs of a spider, with the open faces thereof facing in the same circumferential direction and mounted tangential to the centre line of said spider, and releasable means connecting said spiders to said shaft.

6. In a windmill construction, a drive shaft, carried in bearing on a framework, a plurality of cup units, carried in spaced relation along said shaft and with the cups of said units in spiral formation around said shaft, each unit comprising, a spider, having extending arms supporting said cups, said spiders having a centrally located split hub releasably fastened on said shaft to vary the relation or alter the pitch of said cups therearound. said cups being of a relatively V-shape in cross section, the open faces of a rectangular shape with rounded ends, said cups mounted at right angles to the centre line of said shaft and tangential thereof in cross section.

8. In a windmill construction, a drive shaft, carried in bearings on a framework, a plurality of cup units, carried in spaced relation on said drive shaft, said cups comprising, a three legged spider having a centrally located split hub releasably fastenable on said drive shaft, and. with cups on the legs of said spider, the cups of said unit being of a relatively V-shape in cross section, the open faces of a rectangular shape with rounded ends, said cups mounted at right angles to the centre line of said hubs and tangential thereof in cross section and with the open faces thereof facing in the same circumferencial direction, and said hubs positioned on said drive shaft with the cups of said units in spiral formation therearound.
