1 Claim.

Claim.—1. A governor for gasoline engines and the like comprising a shaft having a plurality of splines formed on a portion thereof, an internally splined sleeve slidably mounted on said shaft and in engagement with the splines thereon, a number of teeth formed at an extremity of said sleeve, a tubular shaft having a corresponding number of teeth mounted for engagement with the teeth on said sleeve, said tubular shaft being connected to the load and said teeth being inclined to exert an axially disengaging pressure on said sleeve, spring means normally holding both sets of teeth in engagement, and a lever to accelerate the engine secured to said sleeve and actuated by the sliding movement thereof.
