Claim.—1. A pump of the class described comprising a casing adapted to be submerged in a source of liquid supply, a tube extending upwardly of the casing and in communication therewith through the top, a rotor arranged within the casing and operating to lift the liquid within the tube, said casing below the rotor being provided with an entrance opening, means for operating the rotor, and a shield overlying the entrance opening, said shield being open at the top and above the entrance opening.

4. A pump of the class described comprising a housing, a partition intersecting said housing, a tube extending within the housing through the base thereof and having its inner end secured to the partition, a casing secured to the opposite end portion of the tube and in communication therewith, said casing being provided with an induction opening, a nozzle in communication with a portion of the tube within the housing and extending exteriorly of the housing, a shaft disposed through the tube within the casing and rotatably supported by the partition and the casing, a rotor arranged within the casing and fixed to the shaft, and means carried by the housing for rotating the shaft.

A pump of the class described comprising a housing, a partition intersecting the same, a tube extending within the housing through the base thereof and secured to the partition, a discharge spout in communication with a portion of the tube within the housing and extending exteriorly of the housing, a casing secured to the opposite end portion of the tube and in communication therewith, a shaft extending through the tube and within the casing and rotatably supported by the partition and the casing, a rotor within the casing fixed to the shaft, said casing being provided with an induction opening below the rotor, and a driving member carried by the housing above the partition and operatively engaged with the shaft for rotaing the shaft.
