Description: Dell Delbert Sommers, Champion, Alberta. Canada, 16th December, 1919; 6 years. Filed 17th April. 1919. Receipt No. 308,452.

Claim.—1. In a tiller, and in combination, a rotatable subsurface tilling member, a trip device normally restraining rotation of the same adapted to be temporarily released to permit partial rotation of the tilling member.

5. The combination with the arrangement specified in Claim 1 of a series of teeth adapted to remove the weeds and refuse from the tilling member as it turns.

6. In a tiller, and in combination, a rotatable tilling member having a plurality of tilling bars adapted to successively come into operative position beneath the surface soil, and to be swung from such position when the member is free to turn by the pressure of the soil as the tiller moves forwardly, and means for normally preventing turning of the tilling member.
