Electric Wire Reel (Patent No: 388470)

Description: Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject t the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:-

1. A reel for carrying strip material, comprising a receiving structure upon which the material may be wound, said receiving structure having end members for confining the material on it, a coupling member rigidly fastened on one of said end members having a coupling portion exposed to the outside of said end member, the end of the material first wound on the reel being connected to the end of the coupling member opposite to the coupling portion, said end being adjacent to the receiving structure of the reel whereby the end material first wound on the reel is available for connection to a source of supply, said coupling portion detachably receiving a connecting member to connect with the source of supply.
2. A device as claimed in Claim 1, in which a securing member is positioned on the opposite end of the reel to that carrying the coupling member to receive and secure the free end of the material last wound on the reel.
3. A reel for carrying electric wire comprising a receiving structure upon which the wire may be wound, said receiving structure having end members for confining the wire on it, an electric outlet member rigidly carried by one of said end members, and having plus receiving means disposed to the outside of said end member, the end of the wire first wound on the reel being electrically connected with said outlet member whereby said end, normally buried under a plurality of convolutions of wire, is available for connection with a source of power, said plus receiving means of the outlet being designed to connect with a connecting length of wire plugged into a source of supply.
4. A device as claimed in Claim 3 in which the opposite end of the reel is provided with a clip member for fastening the end of the wire last wound upon the reel.
5. A device as claimed in Claim 3 in which the ends of the reel are disc-like members, and in which the end carrying the outlet member is orificed to permit the outlet to project through the end to expose the plug receiving portion towards the outside of the said end.
