-CLAIMS-
Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in the Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:-

1. A winding frame of the typed described for a carpenter's chalk line, comprising two side flange members, cross bars connecting said side members and perpendicular thereto, tubular distance pieces enclosing said bars, between the side members, a central spindle through said side members with a rotatable handle thereon outside the framework, a tubular distance piece enclosing said spindle between said side members, and. a cranking knob loosely mounted on the extended end of one of said bars.

2. A winding frame for chalk lines comprising dual flange members, cross bars with distance pieces on which the line' is wound rigidly connecting said flange members together, a fixed spindle extending outwardly of the frame, a rotatable handle on the extended end of said spindle, a cranking knob to rotate the winding frame about said handle, and reinforcing plates on the outer faces of said flange members on which the riveted heads of said bars and said spindle bear.
