Mail and Article Receptacle (Patent No: 877798)

Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows.

1. A mail and article receptacle comprising
a) a support means
b) a plurality of open topped compartments mounted on said support means
c) a cover liftable and rotateable on said support means
d) the cover having depending flanges to completely enclose said tops of the said compartments.

2. The mail and article receptacle of claim 1 in which the top cover is held in the raised position upon lifting and rotating.

3. The mail and article receptacle as claimed in claim 2 in which the lifting is guided by a longitudinal slot and the cover is maintained in the raised position by a transverse slot in the support means acting with a pin in a cover supporting shaft.

4. The mail and article receptacle as claimed in claim 1 or 2 in which each compartment has a wall hinged at the base of the compartment which can be swung down when the cover is lifted.

5. A mail and article receptacle as claimed in claims 1 or 2 having a sliding indicator which in one position will indicate the presence of mail or article.

6. A mail and article receptacle as claimed in claim 1 having a sliding indicator in whi.ch the indicator comprises a channel mounted on the cover, a slot in the channel, a slide means in the channel and an indicator on 'the slide that will show through said slot.

7. A mail and article receptacle as claimed in claim 3 in which the longitudinal slot and the transverse slot are in a tube which is mounted internally of the support means.
