Disc Plow Adjusting Apparatus (Patent No: 471698)

Inventor: Bechdholt, Frederick

Location: Olds

Comments: N/A

Description:
Amending Claims.

Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in The Patent Act,l935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:

1. In a disc plow of the character described for trailing behind a tractor, a main frame, a tongue pivotally attached to the front of said frame for connection with the tractor, a pair of ground-contacting wheels supporting the rear portion of said frame, plow discs mounted on the frame, bell crank arms pivotally associated with the frame and in roller bearing contact with the said tongue to adjust the height of the discs relative thereto, and a push and pull rod having springable assistance, mounted on the frame for manipulation of said bell crank arms.

2. A disc plow as defined in Claim 1 and including vertical spindles supporting the discs dependably from the frame, a set of levers connected together to turn said spindles, and a rod connecting said levers and crank operated for simultaneous adjustment of the discs about the vertical axes of their disc-supporting spindles together with hollowed arms enclosing said spindles for attachment to the discs.

3. In a disc plow, apparatus comprising a two-wheel mounted frame for attachment to a tractor, a tongue pivotally attached to the front end of said frame with means to so pivot the tongue, a series of vertical thimbles in one longitudinal member of said frame, a spindle in each said thimble, a lever attached to the top of each said spindle, a bracketed rod connected pivotally with each said lever for their co-operational movement for adjusting the planary angularity of the discs of the plow, a manually operable crank with threaded shank engaging a threaded bracket on said rod to operate said levers, a series of hollow disc-supporting arms, each to contain one of said spindles affixed therein, a tubular arm extending from the bottom of each said disc arm at an acute angle therewith in an upward direction, a disc-supporting shaft within said extending arm in each case, a pair of bell crank arms mounted pivotally on the fore end of the frame and coacting with the tongue thereof for height adjustment of the plow discs, a crank shaped rear wheel axle bearably mounted on the rear end of the frame, screw means connected with this axle to adjust the height of the machine relative with the ground, a crank and screw operated push and pull rod mounted on the frame and pivotally connected with said bell crank arms, and a spring to assist said push and pull rod in its movements for raising and lowering the frame relative with the said tongue.

4. Soil discing and plowing apparatus comprising a cross- shaped frame supported by a pair of ground-engaging wheels, a tongue pivoted to said frame for detachable engagement with a tractor, a forward housing embodied with said frame, bell crank arms connected pairwise within said housing, a roller between said arms and engaging said tongue, means to adjust the positions of the arms and roller for regulating the relative positions of the tongue and frame for adjusting the height of the frame, spring means to maintain contact between said roller and the tongue, and plow discs mounted on the frame.

5. Soil discing and plowing apparatus as defined in Claim 4 and including tubular thimbles fitted into one cross arm of the frame, a vertical disc-supporting spindle and hollow arm combination for each disc rotatable within each said thimble, a lever attached to each spindle of each spindle and arm combination, a reciprocal rod connecting said levers for partial rotation of said spindles and arms, an offset axle bearably associated with the frame and having crank arms on the ends of which the wheels are mounted, and crank and screwable means combined with this offset axle to regulate the height of the machine above the ground.

6. Soil slicing and plowing apparatus as defined in Claims 2, 3 and 5, and including a slotted aperture formed in the bottom of each of said hollow disc-supporting arms for the distribution therefrom of seed grain fed into the arm from a source of supply, and a prop member swingably attached to the forward housing to drag when travelling and to maintain the machine is a raised position off the ground when backing and disconnecting same from the tractor.
