Inventor: Duleba, Ilko Alexander

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description:
CLAIMS
Having regard to the foregoing disclosure, the patent of which this specification forms part confers, subject to the conditions prescribed in The Patent Act, 1935, the exclusive right, privilege and liberty of making, constructing, using and vending to others to be used, the invention as defined in claims submitted by the patentee as follows:-

1. In a fire escape mechanism a new combination of parts now in common use comprising a vertically mounted cylinder; a piston in the said cylinder, the said piston having a series of small holes near its outer circumference and a plurality of larger holes near its centre, a valve on its under side of such size as to cover the larger holes during the down stroke of the piston and hinged to allow for the opening of the larger holes during the up stroke of the piston; a piston rod attached to the said piston; a gear-toothed arm rigidly attached to and parallel to the said piston rod; .p, counterweight attached to the said gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly by means of a cable running over a pulley or pulleys; a small gear wheel engaging the said gear-toothed arm; a large gear wheel on a common axle with the said small gear wheel; a second small gear wheel engaging with the said large gear wheel; a rope spool on a common axle with the said second small gear wheel; a rope or cable attached to and wound on the said rope spool and running over a pulley; a suitable harness to support a human being attached to the end of the said rope or cable.

2. In a fire escape mechanism a new combination of parts now in common use comprising a vertically mounted cylinder; a piston in the said cylinder having valve in the said cylinder to allow for free flow of fluid during the up stroke and restricted flow of fluid during the down stroke of the said piston; a piston rod attached to the said piston; a gear-toothed arm rigidly attached to and parallel to the said piston rod; a counterweight attached to the said gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly by means of a cable running over a pulley Or pulleys; a small gear wheel engaging the said gear-toothed arm; a large gear wheel on a common axle with the said small gear wheel; a second small gear wheel engaging with the said large gear wheel; a rope spool on a common axle with the said second small gear wheel; a rope or cable attached to and wound on the said rope spool and running over a pulley; a suitable harness to support a human being attached to the end of the said rope or cable.

3. In a fire escape mechanism a new combination of parts now in common use comprising a vertically mounted cylinder; a piston in the-said cylinder having a check valve in the said piston providing for free flow of fluid during the up stroke and restricted flow of the fluid during the down stroke of the said piston; a piston rod attached to the said piston; a gear-toothed arm attached to and parallel to the said piston rod; a counterweight attached to the said gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly by means of a cable running over a pulley or pulleys; gear assembly means of winding a rope on a rope spool with the upward travel of the gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly; a rope or cable attached to and wound on the said rope spool and running over a pulley; a suitable harness to support a human being attached to the end of the said rope or cable.

4. In a fire escape mechanism a new combination of parts now in common use comprising a vertically mounted cylinder; a piston in the said cylinder having a check valve providing for the free flow of fluid during the up stroke and restricted flow of fluid during the down stroke of the said piston; means of returning the said gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly to the extreme limit of its upward travel; gear assembly means of winding a rope on a rope spool with the upward travel of the said gear-toothed arm and piston rod assembly; a rope or cable attached to and wound on the said rope spool and running over a pulley; a suitable harness to support a human being attached to the end of the said rope or cable.
