Seeding Machine (Patent No: 308243)

Inventor: Clarkson, William Warren

Location: Vulcan

Comments: N/A

Description: WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION IS:

1. A seeding machine comprising in combination with movable framework and a seeding box carried thereby, seeding units including single rearwardly curved resilient supporting members attached to the framework, shoes carried by the supporting members adapted to contact with the ground, a seed conduit removably clamped to the supporting member and in operative connection with the seeding box, a shield connected to the supporting member between the shoe and the lower end of the conduit adapted to protect the discharging seeds, a spreading member mounted 'in the 'discharge end, of the conduit and extending therefrom including sloped laterally extending arms and a cover member secured to the conduit rearwardly thereof, covering the spreading member and in parallel with the lower end of the supporting member.

2. The combination with a seeding machine including a movable framework and a seeding box, of seeding units comprising a single rearwardly curved resilient supporting member, a seed conduit detachably clamped to said supporting member and connected with the seeding box, a discharge opening formed in the lower end of the conduit, a spreading member mounted in the discharge end of the conduit and extending therefrom formed of sloped laterally extending arms, a shoe rigidly carried on the end of the supporting member, a shield member secured between the supporting member and the shoe, a guard plate positioned, rearwardly of the lower end of the conduit adapted to encase the spreading member in combination with the shield, and means for commonly securing the guard plate, spreader and shield.

3. The device as claimed in claim 2 in which means is provided for detachably securing the units to the machine comprising a perforated block adjustably and detachably secured to each unit and a pair of draw bars detachably and adjustably secured to the block adapted to connect with the frame.

4. In a. seeding machine, the combination with resilient supporting units including a shoe, seed conduit and shield, of a spreading member mounted on the discharge end of the conduit and extending therefrom including sloped laterally extending spreading arms and a guard plate positioned rearwardly of the conduit adapted to encase the spreading unit in combination with said shield.

5. In a seeding machine, including a movable framework and seeding box, the combination of a plurality of single rearwardly and downwardly curved resilient supporting members, seed conduits detachably clamped to said supporting members formed with an elongated discharge end, a spreading member secured in the discharge end of said conduits and extending therefrom, including sloped, laterally extending.
