[57] A method of seismic prospecting which permits shot holes to be drilled only into the weathering layer. The configuration of shot holes is such that propagation of a ground wave in the weathering layer is minimized. In some applications the charges are to be detonated sequentially and a suitable control system for this purpose is disclosed. The method may be extended to the detonation of charges under water.
