Description:
The embodiments of .the invention in which an exclusive property and/or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. An advertising device as described comprising a translucid background member, a display stand to support same in an upright position, spaced horizontal grooved bars on the face of said background member to receive slidably insertable cut-out individual opaque indicia, said indicating flat against said background member to become enhanced in their distinctness of form from light penetrating through the translucid background material, and an additional sheet of transparent material attached to the rear face of the background member, and with ground surfaces over the marginal and other selected areas thereof to effect refraction of artificial light rays projected edgewise on to and through the said additional sheet of material.

2. Advertising apparatus as described, comprising a translucid non-opaque background member, a stand to uprightly support same, upright background-supporting members on said stand spaced horizontal grooved bars on the face of said background member, individual opaque indicia in numeral and letter form for advertising purposes slidably insartable between said bars, and means by the addition of artificial lights to effect refraction of their light rays when directed edgewise on to and through the said background member.
