Claim.—1. The combination with door operating mechanism, employing exterior and interior pivotal pedal members actuated by vehicle wheels a divided shaft intermediate the exterior pedal member and the remaining mechanism, a rotatable sleeve engaging the divided shaft at the junction thereof, means of rotating the sleeve through the interaction of the portions of the divided shaft, the whole being so adapted that the position of the sleeve will unite the divided shaft, coordinating the motion of the exterior pedal with the door operating mechanism or alternately disunite the divided shaft making the motion of the exterior pedal ineffective.

2. The combination with door opening mechanism employing exterior and interior pivotal pedal members actuated by vehicle wheels, two shafts with telescopic engagement intermediate the exterior pedal and the remaining mechanism, a pin mounted on the interior shaft and passing through a slot in the wall of the exterior shaft, a rotatable sleeve surrounding the shafts at their junction the said sleeve being cut away to engage the said pin on the interior shaft, the rotatable sleeve being so adapted that its engagement with the said pin will unite the shafts to coordinate the motion of the exterior pedal and the remaining mechanism, or alternately in another position make the co-ordination ineffective.

3. The combination with door opening mechanism employing exterior and interior pivotal pedal members actuated by vehicle wheels, two shafts with telescopic engagement intermediate the exterior pedal and the remaining mechanism, a pin mounted on the interior shaft and passing through a slot in the wall of the exterior shaft, a rotatable sleeve surrounding the shafts at their junction said sleeve being cut away to engage the said pin on the interior shaft, the rotatable sleeve being so adapted that its engagement with the said pin will unite the shafts to coordinate the motion of the exterior pedal and the remaining mechanism, or alternately in another position make the co-ordination ineffective, spring means in relation to the junction of the shafts to reduce the shock of engagement, and spring means to hold the rotatable sleeve in its alternate positions.
