A log for prefabricated structures having upper and lower machined surfaces and non-machined side surfaces. The upper and lower machined surfaces are, respectively, of convex and concave configurations to prevent ingress of water and to obviate dust catching shelves when similarly machined logs are superimposed. A throat portion may be provided in the log for use in the formation of a lock joint.
