Inventor: Bridge, Lester A.

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description: The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

A valve assembly for use in a mud tank, comprising: a rigid, downwardly opening conduit;
a riser, secured to the conduit and extending upwardly therefrom;
a substantially horizontal closure member, disposed across the inlet of the conduit, adapted to coact with the inlet perimeter wall of the conduit to effect a sealed closure of the inlet; and
an elongate linkage comprising:
a lever member pivotally connected to the riser adjacent its upper end;
a vertically disposed yoke connected at its lower end to the closure member; and
a connecting member pivotally secured adjacent its upper end to the lever and adjacent its lower end to the yoke, said connecting member adapted to convert movement of the lever about its pivot connection with the riser into substantially vertical movement of the yoke, whereby the lever may be actuated to control closure of the conduit inlet.

2. The valve assembly as defined in Claim 1 wherein: the closure member comprises a plate and a sealing member carried by the plate.
