Electrical Educator (Patent No: 376680)

Inventor: Armstrong, George Colquhoun

Location: Nanton

Comments: N/A

Description: WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION IS:-

(1) Improvements in educating devices comprising a unit provided with a question and answer area, a plurality of separate communicating elements in said question and answer area, each element corresponding to a question and answer in said area, indicating means upon said unit, movable element contactors attached to said unit, said indicator responding only to correct contact by said element contactors with the elements corresponding to any given question and its answer.
(2) Improvements in educating devices comprising, in combination with a source of energy, a unit provided with a question and answer area, a plurality of separate communicating elements in said question and answer area, each element corresponding to a question or answer in said area, electrical indicating means upon said unit and movable element contactors attached to said unit, said indicator responding to completion of an electrical circuit caused through contact of one of said element contactors with an element corresponding to a given question and contact by the other element contactor with the element corresponding to the answer to said question.
(3) Improvements in educating devices comprising, in combination with a source of energy a unit including a board upon which questions and answers may be placed, said board being provided a plurality of electrically connected pairs of terminals, one terminal of each pair corresponding to a question and the other to an answer placed against said terminal, indicating means upon said unit and a pair of terminal contactors attached to said source of energy and with indicating means upon said unit.
(4) Improvements in educating devices comprising, in combination with a source of energy and with a plurality of perforated question and answer sheets, a unit including a board provided with a plurality of projecting terminals upon which said sheets may be placed, said terminals being electrically connected, correct answer indicating means upon said board and terminal contactors electrically connected to said source of energy and to said indicating means.
(5) Improvements in educating devices comprising, in combination with a source of energy and with perforated sheets having a question or answer against each perforation, a unit including a board provided with a plurality of projecting terminals, each terminal being designed to project through a perforation upon said sheet and being electrically connected in pairs, one terminal of said pair being adjacent to a question upon said sheet and the other to an answer, correct answer indicating means upon said unit and a pair of terminal contactors attached to said source of energy and with said indicating means to complete an electrical circuit, thereby causing an impulse to flow through said indicating means upon said contact being established by said pair of contactors between any pairs of terminals.
(6) Improvements in educating devices comprising, in combination with a source of energy and with perforated sheets having a question or an answer against each perforation, a unit including a board, a plurality of projecting terminals upon said board designed to extend through the perforations upon said sheets, said terminals corresponding to a question and the answer upon said sheets, said terminals being electrically connected, indicating means upon said unit and a pair of electrical contactors attached to said source of energy and with said indicating means designed to contact with any two terminals adjacent a question and its answer, thereby establishing an electrical circuit and causing an impulse to flow through said indicating means.
(7) In combination with an educating device of the class described, a series of cards provided with rows of perforation, each perforation being adapted to receive an upstanding pin therethrough and a question or answer against each perforation.
(8) Improvements in educating devices consisting of a board, a plurality of terminals attached to said board, a card provided with a plurality of orifices therein receivable over said terminals, questions upon said card against one half of said orifices and answers to said questions upon said card adjacent the other half of said orifices, signalling means in combination with said device, a source of energy connected with said device, a source of energy connected thereto and a pair of contactors designed to engage with said terminals, said signalling means being adapted to respond when one of said contactors is in engagement with a terminal corresponding to a given question and the other contactor is in engagement with the second terminal, corresponding to the answer to said question.
(9) In a machine for checking the fundamental processes in arithmetic, a shallow frame for receiving metal posts arranged in groups representing multiplication or other arithmetical tables, suitable indicating means on said frame, a signal on said frame, contacts below the said metal posts contacts controlled by the said indicating means, insulated conductors from the first to the said second contacts and to the said signal.
