Slide Band Addition Unit (Patent No: 732041)

Inventor: Cameron, James H.

Location: Edmonton

Comments: N/A

Description:
The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:

1. An addition unit including an elongate housing, a channel centrally of the top of said housing, said channel being longitudinally of said housing; a reference strip having a row of spaced-apart references imprinted thereon within said housing, a band within said housing about said reference strip, said band having a row of adjacent holes therein throughout the length thereof, one of said references being visible through each of said holes of the portion of said band subjacent said channel; indicia imprinted on the edge of said band corresponding with each of said holes, said indicia comprising numbers in consecutive order; a window being provided at the edge of said channel whereby one of said consecutive numbers is visible therethrough, said band being retained by a track within said housing whereby the sliding of said band longitudinally of said channel a distance relative to one of said references results in the corresponding number at the edge of said band appearing at said window.

2. An addition unit as defined in claim 1, in which said row of spaced-apart references on said reference strip are consecutive numbers beginning with "0" from one end thereof.

3. An addition unit as defined in claim 1 in which said row of spaced apart references on said reference strip are consecutive numbers beginning with "0" from each end thereof; said indicia imprinted on the edge of said band comprising numbers in consecutive order from "0" in each direction about the circumference of said band, whereby an add-subtract method of scoring may be utilized.

4. An addition unit as defined in each of claims 1, 2 and 3 in which said band is a moebius band, whereby said band may be of half the length to incorporate a given plurality of said indicia or said band may have a given length and incorporate twice the plurality of said indicia that may be accommodated on a conventional band of like length.

5. An addition unit as defined in claim 1 in which said row of spaced apart references on said reference strip are consecutive numbers beginning with "0" from one end thereof; the obverse side of said reference strip having said references comprising consecutive numbers beginning with "0" from each end thereof; said indicia imprinted on the edge of said band comprising numbers in consecutive order from "0" in each direction about the circumference of said band whereby said addition unit may be used for alternate methods of scoring in games.
