Claim.—1. The combination with a typewriter and with the carriage thereof, of a bracket, rods pivotally mounted thereon, and resilient means for retaining the rods in an operative position, substantially as described.

2. The combination with a typewriter and with the carriage thereof, of a U-shaped bracket, graduated rods pivotally mounted thereon, and spring clips mounted on said brackets adapted to lock the said rods in an operative position, substantially as described.

3. The combination with a typewriter and with the carriage thereof, of a U-shaped bracket having offset stops adapted to engage therewith, graduated rods pivotally mounted on said bracket, and means for retaining the rods in an operative position.
