1. An apparatus consisting of a copper-bearing chamber acting as a cathode and having suitable inlet and outlet openings to permit circulation through it of water to be treated, a sacrificial magnesium-alloy anode and a source of magnetic lines of force fastened wi thin said chamber, means to direct water over said anode and through said magnetic field, and means to connect said apparatus to a metallic vessel using the treated water, and means to renew said anode and magnetic source at required intervals.
2. An apparatus as described in claim 1 with the source of magnetic lines of force fastened to the anode within the cathodic chamber.
3. An apparatus as described in claim 1 with the source of magnetic lines of force fastened to the inner wall of the cathodic chamber.
