Tagging Machine (Patent No: 433934)

Inventor: Ayre, John A. (co-inventor)

Location: Leaside, ON

Comments: N/A

Description:
WHAT WE CLAIM AS OUR INVENTION IS:

1. Tagging mechanism for bagging machines or the like comprising string feeding mechanism, means for passing said string in proximity to a tag, means for slitting said tag, means for projecting the tag against the string to project said string into the slit portion of the tag whereby to mount the tag on the string, and means for severing the string at a point spaced from the location of the tag.

2. Tagging mechanism for bagging machines or the like comprising string feeding mechanism, means for applying adhesive to said string, means for positioning said string adjacent to a tag, means for slitting the tag, means for engaging said tag with said string .and projecting said .string into the slitted portion of said tag, means for heating said string to heat seal it on the tag, and means for severing the string at a point spaced from the location of the tag.

3. Apparatus as claimed in Claim 2 in which means is provided for feeding a strip of tags, including means for severing the leading tag from the strip successively as required in applying tags to the string.

4. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags comprising :string feeding mechanism means for passing said string in proximity to a tag, means for engaging the tag and string, means for .securing the tag on the string and means for severing the string at two points, one on each side of the tag.

5. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags comprising string feeding mechanism means for passing said string in proximity to a tag, means for engaging the tag and string, means for adhesively securing the tag on the string and means for severing the string at two points, one on each side of the tag.

6. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags comprising string feeding mechanism means for passing said string in proximity to a tag, formed with slits in opposed edges thereof, means for engaging the string in the slits of said tag, and means for severing the string at two points, one on each side of the tag.

7. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged string's for bags and the like, comprising means for feeding an adhesive coated string in proximity to a tag, means for engaging the tag and spring, means for heat sealing the string on said tag and means for severing the string at two points, one on each side of the tag.

8. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags and the like, comprising means for feeding an adhesive coated string, means for fastening said string in proximity to a tag, means for slitting said tag, means for engaging the string in the slit portion of said tag and means for heat sealing the adhesive coated string to the tag when so engaged.

9. Tagging mechanism for applying so tagging string to bags in which the latter are located open mouthed in predetermined relation to said mechanism comprising a rotary member having its periphery disposed above the open mouth of a bag, means in connection with said rotary member for holding a tensioned string to overlie said open mouthed bag, means for cutting said string at a point adjacent to the location of said bag to cause the cut end thereof to drop into the open mouth of said bag, means for retaining the remaining portion of said string on said rotary member for a time interval to permit sealing of the bag and anchoring of said string therein, and means for locating part of the remaining portion of the string adjacent to said cutting means to sever from the remaining portion a length thereof to hang from the sealed bag.

10. Tagging mechanism as claimed in Claim 9 in which means is provided for applying a tag to the string at a point so located as to be carried by the cut length hanging from and anchored to the bag.

11. Tagging mechanism for applying a tagging string to bags in which the latter are located open mouthed in predetermined relation to said mechanism, comprising a rotary disc hav1ngits periphery disposed above the open mouth of a bag, means for holding a tensioned string at the periphery of said disc, the latter being recessed at predetermined points in its periphery to expose a length of the tensioned string, said exposed tensioned string being caused to overlie said open mouthed bag, means for cutting said string at a point adjacent to the location of said bag to cause the cut end thereof to drop into the open mouth of said bag, means for retaining the remaining portion of said string on said rotary member for a time interval to permit sealing of: the bag and anchoring of said string therein, and means for locating part of the remaining portion of the string adjacent to said cutting means to sever from the remaining portion a length thereof to hang from the sealed bag.

12. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags comprising string feeding mechanism, means for holding a length of string tensioned, tag feeding mechanism, means for feedings tag into proximity of the tensioned string, means for engaging said tag with said tensioned string, means for securing said tag thereto and means for severing said length of tensioned string at two points, one on each side of said tag.

13. Tagging mechanism for producing tagged strings for bags comprising string feeding mechanism, means for holding tensioned lengths of string, tag feeding mechanism including a tag strip and means for feeding the tag strip into proximity of the string, means for severing a tag from the strip and means for applying and attaching a severed tag to each tagging length of string prior to severing said string in tag length, and anchoring it in each bag.

14. Apparatus as claimed in Claim 13 in which the tags are slit, and positioned on the string by means of said slits.

15. Apparatus as claimed in Claim 13 in which the tags are slit and positioned on the string by means of said slits, said tags being heat sealed on said string.
