Description: Thomas Livingston. Calgary, Alberta, Canada, 15th July, 1947. Filed 23rd July, 1945. Serial No. 529,375.

Claim.—1. A cinch making machine of the type described. comprising in combination, a main supporting frame having two vertical side posts and a bench member tie beam therebetween, an upright angle bracket member supported on said tie beam, hand lever means to clamp said bracket to said tie beam in varying positions along same, a longitudinally disposed clamping bar fixed to said tie beam and pivotally mounting said hand lever means for clamping purposes, a standard vertically slidable with respect to said angle bracket member, a guide bracket attached to the vertical leg of said' angle bracket to slidably contain said standard; a second standard vertically slidable also within said guide bracket, means by hand lever and link mechanisms to raise and to lower said two standards opposedly to one another in direction, arm extensions of each said vertical standard bent perpendicularly thereto and transversely of the said frame, hooks in the said side posts to support cinch making ropes slide therebetween, and finger hooks of alternately varying lengths clamped in the top and bottom said bent arms to separate alternate warp threads in loom manner as said arms are operated by said hand lever mechanism.

2. Apparatus for making harness cinches comprising a main machine supporting framework having two vertical posts and a tie beam therebetween to support said apparatus, an angle bracket member having one horizontal leg supported on said tie beam, a hand lever having an eccentrically operable end pivotally mounted to eccentrically clamp said horizontal leg to said tie beam, two vertically disposed standard's slidably bracketed to the rear face of the vertical leg of said angle bracket member, means by hand. lever and links to raise or lower said standards opposedly with respect to one another, and in simultaneous movements, horizontally extending arms supporting transverse rows of adjustably clamped hooks for catching by interlocking, and raising and lowering by overlooking alternate cinch-making threads for placement of cross threads therebetween, and means to sling the cinch threads from post to post of said framework transversely to the alignments of said hooks.
