Illuminating Means for Enclosures (Patent No: 669221)

Inventor: James, William J.

Location: Calgary

Comments: N/A

Description:
WHAT I CLAIM AS MY INVENTION IS:

(1) Illuminating means for enclosures including a hingedly attached closure element; comprising in combination supporting means securable within said enclosure, a source of illumination mounted on said supporting means, a source of electrical energy for said source of illumination also mounted on said supporting means, and switch means coacting between the associated hingedly attached closure element and said source of electrical energy adapted to connect electrically, said source of electrical energy to said source of illumination when said closure element is opened and to disconnect same when said closure element is closed and alight reflector secured to said supporting means and partially surrounding said source of illumination.

(2) The device according to Claim 1 which includes a casing secured to said supporting means adapted to detachably retain said source of electrical energy, said casing having a detachable cap upon one end thereof, said source of illumination being screw threadably supported by said cap, one end of said source of illumination extending through said cap and adapted to contact one end of said source of electrical energy.

(3) The device according to Claim 1 in which said switch means includes an electrically conducting, resilient contact strip secured by one end thereof to said supporting means adjacent one end of said source of electrical energy, said contact strip being normally biased towards said one end thereby completing the electrical circuit between said source of electrical energy and said source of illumination, and means on said closure element adapted to maintain said contact strip out of engagement from said source of electrical energy against said biasing, when said closure element is closed.

(4) The device according to Claim 2 in which said switch means includes an electrically conducting, resilient contact strip secured by one end thereof to said supporting means adjacent one end of said source of electrical energy, said contact strip being normally biased towards said one end thereby completing the electrical circuit between said source of electrical energy and said source of.i1lumination, and means on said closure element adapted to maintain said contact strip out of engagement from said source of electrical energy against said biasing, when said closure element is closed.
